Some question whether teacher compensation and school funding are contributing to challenges in education. School districts and experts all over the US are struggling to assess these issues. MCSV believes that effective teacher incentives can be helpful to improve teacher compensation while balancing costs with benefits. We think it is helpful to become aware of experiments and successes with teacher incentives. An article "Extra Pay may help fill Teaching Jobs" (The News and Observer online - North Carolina) describes innovative compensation and incentive experiments in North Carolina.
